elucidate

there have been a lot of seemingly untimely passings lately

I wish it all made sense

I take them as reminders of love

I light a candle to each of them
I thank them for touching so many of us in their brief time with us

...

making do in the absence of snow

I'll admit this is winter fun, but be not fooled, despite this beautifully frozen lake, there is still no snow to ride on.

I'm not complaining, I haven't had the time to ride anyway, but this is an unusually late season and we're all crossing our fingers that it comes soon.

In the meantime, there's ice fishing and ice skating.

simplification

the focus of my practice of late has been
metta
maitri
loving kindness

I feel pretty certain that animals get that more than we do.
The brown cow is grooming the black one.
It kind of got me a little verklempt

went to watch the salmon run
saw little more than this
in no way disappointed

if you happened across this while on a walk in the woods it might make you, well, pause at the very least.

a work of art.

infinite uses
infinite wisdom
artful ingenuity

pay attention to saturn return voice of calling

opened my computer today to see that line from an astrological reading I had almost a year ago to the day.

I'm devoting a lot of time and energy to yoga these days and it's the first decision that has felt like it's coming straight from the heart.

I think it's going to continue to take me in the direction that I need to go.

chia seeds are the new goji berries

I've been in the natural food industry long enough to recognize trends.
It's not a complaint or a boast, a simple observation.

I'd like to spend a chunk of my life here.

girl blowin' in the wind

happy belated birthday my dear, lucy.

will barnet.  one of my faves.
it's girl blowin' in the wind.
it's a new bicycle
it's the good life.

it's break time

new moon in libra.

evidently a good time for social gatherings, for cultivation of relationships of all kinds.
finding balance of the inner and outer in our lives.
energy movement, releasing that which is stuck.

As Saturn continues its transit through Libra, relationships are the focal point of serious growth and maturity. Responsibility for our past choices which have placed us in current situation within relationship

autumnal equinox, new moon, change is in the air, can you feel it?
time to break out of limiting patterns.

you can hear it from me.  or you can hear it there.
either way, it's all the same.

highway info tune into AM 530

the only thing they could possibly tell you to expect would be:
straight, flat, hot.

drove across the state of California.

here's what it looks like for days:

those are all shots taken of one farm.
one crop.
one plant.

if only i was wittier

I could come up with a humorous way to reference my own thoughts.

As the brilliant 4 year old daughter of my friend said recently:
"do you want to hear everything that's in my head right now?"

I don't care how famous you are or how many crappy movies you've starred in.  If you come into my grocery store at close when I'm trying to sweep, mop and go home and you take your sweet little time going through and filling your basket while the rest of the staff hops to to wrap up your buddha statue, I'm going to be entirely unimpressed.

sometimes this is the perspective you have

sometimes this is all it takes to shift the perspective

take a vacation

my horoscope told me to.

already had an unplanned one scheduled.

it started with some of this...

there might have been a little of this:

oh right and this...

this, needless to say, continued...

thankfully, i moved on to this

and some of this:

the rest of my scheduled unplanned vacation will take place in a tent in the woods.

i hope your horoscope tells you to take a vacation.
i encourage you to do so even if it doesn't.

going inward

i've registered for my second yoga teacher training with the hope of completing this one.

i've started rereading stephen cope's yoga and the quest for true self.

i came across this krishnamurti quote in a recent adbusters:
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society."

right now i'm trying to figure out how to make a living and how to be self employed one day
i do not work well for others.

all suggestions are welcome.

i really love bagels.

one of these things doesn't belong

an apple a day

i'm considering dropping all together this scam called health insurance.
to date, i have paid thousands and thousands of dollars to them.
deductibles.  copays.  premiums.  in network.  out of network.  out of pocket.

it's under consideration
i'm taking it under advisement

i recently went for my annual.
and i thought that it might be the closest thing to confession that i ever experience.
it was strangely cathartic and comforting.

good healthcare is often worth paying for.
in my life i've had a series of amazing female practitioners who have kicked all kinds of medical schwag my way

free vaccinations
free pharmaceutical samples
free equipment
free pregnancy tests
free phone consultations to avoid office visit fees

and one day i do hope to repay that.
pay it forward
whatever.
but somehow, paying monthly fees to giant health insurance companies doesn't add up.
